this week

School is finally starting to come to an end and i couldnt be happier. School is starting to get really boring and i really need summer to be here. I have pretty much checked out of school too. Anyways, this week wasnt too bad. We are still reading Me and Orson Welles. I actually like the book. It is just a fun to see how this man acted and worked when he was putting on this play. Also how this kid basically lies to everyone to try and just be part of this play. he is kind of smart in how he gets out of doing everything. I think there is going to be a thing between Richard and Sonja. Well like i said i cant wait for school to be out.

week in review

This week for the most part was very ordinary. Finished up our Julius Caesar books with our test. It wasnt too bad, but the vocab was not easy. I know i got some of them. Now that thats over we are starting Me and Orson Welles. I actually find it kind of interesting. The way he took the radio by storm was amazing. I cant believe he made the broadcast sound like an actual news story and actually tricked all the people listening. I am also very suprised he didnt get in a lot of trouble for it. Anyway this week wasnt bad and school is almost over. I am so ready for the summer to be here. This weekend was great. My team had another tournament. We came away with the championship. This was a very good week and i think this week is going to be just as good.

blog

To start off i am so happy we are done reading this Julius Caesar play. it wasnt the worst thing i have ever read but it still wasnt good. I feel like it would have been better had it been in modern english. It was just extremely hard to understand. I think this test we are gonna take will be pretty easy aside from the vocabulay part. Vocabulary can be so confusing. Oh well, i think i will do fine. this weekend was good though. My AAU team had another tournament. We played in Worthington at Kilbourne. We went 4-1 overall and the only game we lost was our first game of pool play. We ended up winning the championship of our bracket. Overall it was a good weekend.

My Cast of Julius Caesar (The Class)

Caesar-I think a good Caesar would be Mr. Potter. The main reason i think this is because he is our teacher. So he kinda already rules the class in a way. Many of the people in our class respect but i think there are a few who disagree with him a lot.

Antony-I think of myself as a good Antony. I like to have fun when im not doing anything but when i want to accomplish something i can get it done. Also when i believe in something i will set my mind to it and not let anybody else change my mind.

Cassius- I see Devin as a good Cassius. He seems like a good guy and a lot of people think he is funny. But at the same time he opposes a lot of things people say. The big difference between him and Cassius is that i dont think he will change his mind when somebody tries to persuade him.

Brutus- This is probably the easiest one to choose. i think Evern is the perfect Brutus. He is a very smart person. Not only that, but when he says something everybody listens to him. Also he is very well respected by anybody he meets.

Casca-My Casca has to be Will. Will is just a really random guy.

Calphurnia- Abby would make a good Calphurnia. She is a very caring person that doesnt want to see anybody get hurt. However, when she is betrayed she will get mad and want revenge.

newest post

this week was boring i fou nd. We started the play Julius Caesar. Its not too bad of a book i have found. The only thing about it is that it is diificult to understand. The language is just the old english which nobody uses anymore.
i enjoy learning about the history of how it all ahppened. Even though its not 100% acturate. Well thats pretty much all we did this week. This weekend was pretty fun. I had another basketball tournament in Pickerington. We did pretty well. We came in second. In the championship we lost by 10 to a really good team. It was nice to be back on the court playing the best sport ever. Well that pretty much sums up my week.

post

Well we are back from spring break and the 4th quarter is in full swing. Im actually kind of happy its over. I didnt do anything and it was pretty boring. Well aside from the basketball tournament the last 2 days. We did well. made it to the final four in our bracket. Anyway now we are starting some Julius caesar. It is pretty boring so far. I find shakepeare to be pretty boring. Maybe it will get better this year. The movie wasnt the worst thing in the world. I think it may have been better if e could have watched the whole thing. Im happy it is the 4th quarter. I am so ready for summer to be here. It has been a long year and i am ready for a long vacation.

Getting Stabbed in the Back is Never Fun

Dear Reader,

The theme, from the Book Flyte, that I chose to use was betrayal. This theme shows up quit a few times within the book. The main character, Septimus Heap, is betrayed by his own brother. His brother, Simon, turns evil and kidnaps their sister, who is also the queen-to-be of their homeland. Simon wanted to get rid of his sister so he could become the ruler of his homeland. Septimus must rely on his friends and family to help him get to the Badlands to save his sister and get rid of his brother Simon. I want to show everyone how the theme of betrayal shows up in the story. I will discuss the theme using characters from the book. Also, there will be example of scenery and situations that occurred in the book that I use in the post.

Sincerely,
Mark Daniels

"To me, the thing that is worse than death is betrayal. You see, I could conceive death, but I could not conceive betrayal."
- Malcolm X

I have taken your precious daughter. I have taken her back with me to the Badlands. I will dispose of her if all of my demands are not met. First of all, your son Septimus must be removed as the apprentice so I may have the position. Secondly, Jenna may not take her position as queen. I will be taking over at king of our homeland. If my demands are not met soon I will dispose of her.

"Betrayal is never easy to handle and there is no right way to accept it."
- Christine Feehan

A man wearing a black cloak came into the castle yesterday. He was riding a large black horse and seemed to be in a hurry. He looked like an odd man, but had a strange fire in his eyes as if to say I had a mission I will not fail. I had never seen him before that day and I had heard a lot of people at the tavern talking about this man. It had been about an hour until a saw him again, but he went the same way he came. Riding just as fast as he was when he first came into the castle. Except this time he had someone with him. I could not really tell who it was, but it looked like a young girl. She resembled our princess. Later that night I went out and heard gossip that the princess had been kidnapped. They said it was a man on a large black horse that took her. Now I was for certain that it was her on the back of that horse. I wish I would have stopped the man so I could have save her. I hope somebody finds her and she returns safely.

“Only trust thyself, and another shall not betray thee.”
-William Penn

Ten Ways to Know if You Have Been Betrayed!
1.     Your own brother decides to kidnap your sister.
2.     If somebody in your family tries to kill your sister.
3.     If your brother starts out as a good person and then becomes evil.
4.     If one of your best friends tells somebody bad about you.
5.     When your sibling tries to take over your place as king or queen.
6.     A family member tries to feed you to a giant man-eating worm.
7.     A friend or family member works for your sworn enemy
8.     Your brother steals a book that you need to study from to become a good wizard for his own use.
9.     Your own brother attacks you on your way home.
10.  Your little sister steals your horse to run away

“Betrayal is the only truth that sticks.”
-Arthur Miller

Reflection:
The first genre I chose was the Ransom note. In the book Simon kidnaps his sister Jenna. So this made sense to do to symbolize his demands for the safe return of Jenna. If they weren’t met he would kill his own sister. The second genre I chose was an eyewitness account. It was by the ghost Alther who saw Simon enter and leave the castle. He described what Simon looked like and when he kidnapped Jenna. The third genre I chose was a wanted poster. It was for the arrest of Simon after he had taken Jenna. The forth and final genre I chose was Ten ways to know something. I chose to use my theme of betrayal. I described ten ways to tell how you have been betrayed.  Overall I thought this was a good project to help understand what happened in the book. Also it was a very easy project. I have had a time where I thought I would not be able to finish this in time.

Mystery Short Story

“Well detective, it looks like we have another murder on our hands,” said the police officer.
“It seems like those are the only crimes we are investigating these days,” replied Detective Jim Nanz.
The detective and officer stood outside the yellow police tape inside the old subway station. They had been called in to investigate the most recent murder. The victim, Fred Johnson, was one of the most admired and wealthiest athletes and coaches in the country. He had recently retired from coaching a local college team to spend more time with his family.
“Were you able to locate the murder weapon?” Asked Detective Nanz
“No sir.” Replied the officer, “The only part to this death we know is that there is trauma to the head.”
“Alright.” Responded Detective Nanz, “I’m going to look around and see if I can find anything.”
There wasn’t much to look around for. All that was there was Mr. Johnson’s body in the middle of the old subway tracks. The detective was puzzled by the fact it was this man who was killed. When all of a sudden, something caught his eye. It was a gold ring. He picked it up to examine it and noticed that there were initials on the inside. They were the letters S and J.
“Well looks like we found our first suspect,” said Detective Nanz
Detective Nanz pulled up in his car out front of the Johnsons’ home. He went up to the front door and Mrs. Johnson answered.
“Hello Mrs. Johnson,” said Detective Nanz, “may I come in?”
“Oh well I guess,” said Mrs. Johnson
He expressed severe sympathy for her loss, but he also explained what had happened. She had already been notified by the police and she didn’t seem too sad. She explained how her husband had changed since he retired. He had been a lot meaner and started drinking more the usual. She went on for a while just talking. Detective Nanz still couldn’t get over the fact she hadn’t shed a tear over her husband’s death. She almost seemed happy he was gone.  He saw Mrs. Johnson’s hand and noticed she wore a ring on every finger. However, one finger was absent of a ring.
“You wear a lot of rings Mrs. Johnson,” said Detective Nanz
“Oh yes,” she said. “I just love them, but I’m missing one. I think it fell off at the retirement party.”
“What kind of ring was it?” asked Detective Nanz.
“It was actually the smallest one I own. It was small and gold,” she answered.
Well now Detective Nanz was almost sure she had been somehow involved with her husband’s death. But how could she have over powered him? That was the question that bothered the detective. Before he convicted her of the murder, he was going to have to talk with some of the others that were close with the victim. Next on his list was Scott Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Johnsons’ son.
He arrived at Scott’s house. He went to the door to knock, but noticed that nobody was home. Little did he know Scott was out of town at the time. Well he now knew his son would know nothing of the murder. So now he would have to go and see the last person on his list. That was Fred’s agent, Thomas Kingman.
Detective Nanz arrived at Thomas Kingman’s agency and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. But that mood changed as soon as he went into the agent’s office. Mr. Kingman was very sad and didn’t know what to do without his most prized client. The detective was greeted by a large man who had not been in the greatest mood.
“Hello sir, my name is Detective Jim Nanz and I’m investigating the murder of your client Fred Johnson. Do you mind if I ask you a couple questions?” said Detective Nanz.
“Of course not,” replied Thomas. “I will do whatever it takes to catch Fred’s killer.”
Thomas told Detective Nanz that the two were really good friends and how they played ball together in high school. He spoke very highly of Mr. Johnson. He also said how Mr. and Mrs. Johnson had been fighting a lot lately. The Detective told Thomas he had spoken to Mrs. Johnson.
“Did Mr. Johnson drink a lot?” Asked the detective.
“Oh heavens no,” replied Thomas. “He actually never had a drink in his life.”
Well this put more holes in Mrs. Johnson’s story. As of now all signs pointed to her. Detective Nanz thanked Thomas for his time. There was now no doubt in his mind that Mrs. Johnson had committed the murder. He first had to stop back at his office before he went to arrest Mrs. Johnson.
When he arrived back at Mrs. Johnson’s home, he noticed something different. None of the lights were on and nobody was home, but he noticed all the cars were there. There was something that bothered him. There was an extra car sitting in the driveway. He had seen the car before, but he wasn’t sure from where. He walked up to the door to see if she was home. As he knocked on the door he knew where he had seen the car. All of a sudden he heard a loud crash. He ran inside and saw Mrs. Johnson’s knocked out on the floor of the living room. Standing over her was Mr. Kingman with a large object in his hands. Detective Nanz grabbed him and handcuffed him. Once the ambulance arrived to help Mrs. Johnson, Thomas admitted everything. He said he planted the ring at the scene to frame her. He was tired of Mr. Johnson not paying him for all he had done and not giving him any credit. This was one of the most bizarre crimes Detective Nanz had ever investigated

Movies

I love watching movies. But to pick a favorite one would be pretty hard. I guess it depends on which type of movie we are talking about. My favorite comedy would have to be Semi-Pro. Will Ferrell is just a fuuny guy. It also includes my favorite sport basketball. I love when he is wrestling the bear. That part has to be one of the best scenes in the movie. My favorite suspense/mystery movies are Taken and The Edge of Darkness. Both have a very similar story line. A father goes on a mission searching for a kidnapper/killer that has done something to his daughter. Some other good movies include The Pirates of the Carribean Trilogy, Transformers 1 and 2, and The Lord of The Rings Trilogy. One type of movie i hae never really been a fan of is horror. it just isnt for me. I dont really like to be scared. Its weird though. I really dont mind going through haunted houes. They dont scare me as much as the movies do. Well that wraps up this weeks post.

things that are a waste of time

I do a lot of things to waste time. Some of these things include: on saturday mornings watching Sportcenter from 8 until 1, playing xbox, watching a lot of movies, and the biggest of all...... getting of Facebook. By the time Sportcenter is over on Saturdays I already know what is gonna happen next. Sagturday mornings are like my day of doing nothing. So just to burn time i watch it over and over again. I play NBA 2K11 all the time. At this point i think its kinda boring, but i play it while im waiting to leave somewhere. Now the biggest thing that i waste my time with is Facebook. A lot of time im not even on there to update something, but just to see what is going on. Also i play the ESPNU College Town. I really dont know why, but it is a lot of fun. I am up to about 86,000 students in my school too. Well thats all for this week.

this week.

Well, this week was interesting. We are now starting our science fiction/fantasy unit. I dont think it will be that bad, actually i kind of enjoy this stuff. We have already read a few stories and listened to a radio broadcast about aliens. One story we read was about a a house that was pretty much alive. It did everything for the family, but what we dont know is that the family is dead. Along with all the other people in the city. There was a nuclear war thaty killed everyone and destroyed all the buildings except this one house. It continued with its routine. The radio broadcast was interesting. It was about a bunch of space explorers who have gone to Mars. Aliens read the peoples mind and put the images on Mars.  I find this stuff very interesting and cannot wait to learn more.

Cartoons

All the cartoons that are on TV today are nowhere as good as the one we had when we were young. My favorites had to be Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and Codename: Kids Next Door. Foster's was so funny. I loved how the two main character was named Bloo. I just loved the show. The best character in it was Cheese. I thought it was funny how he was just so dumb. He had no idea what was going on. Then i also loved Kids Next Door. It was funny. I love how these 5 kids went around fighting adults with random things like teddy bears and flashlights. Like half the adults were evil and the others didnt care. There were a ton of explanations as to why kids lived with adults. It was just a quality show. The shows that are on tv now are just terrible. I hate the ones like Sponge Bob.  They just make no sense at all. I just wish we had the cartoons of old.

Mystery unit

This has to be my favorite unit so far this year. I have really enjoyed all the weid stories, movies, and radio broadcast. The radio broadcast was interesting. It was actually kind of weird. First of all, why would you take a random road when there is a killer on the loose? I just didnt understand that part, but i guess its what made the story. I too would have thought that the woman who wanted in the car was the killer. She was acting like she wanted to kill the two. Now we are starting on another story. It is really long. So far its kinda boring but hopefully it gets better by the end of the week.
